No Human Trafficking In Kuwait, Residency Trade On The Rise

30 March 2021 Kuwait

The defendants in 30 labor recruitment cases were convicted as residency dealers, there were no cases of Human trafficking in Kuwait, Al Qabas reported.

Informed sources explained to the daily that there is a big difference between human trafficking and residency trade. The residency trade is when owners of fake companies lure expat workers with a scam to give jobs in Kuwait. They take money in exchange for visas,  the average price of which has reached 2000 dinars. After bringing in thousands of workers the owners have nothing to do with the workers. The number of random workers in Kuwait has increased, and the Corona crisis has made this more apparent.

In the past, the number of fake recruiting companies has also increased. The Public Prosecution has recently submitted, a law draft in which they demanded that the penalties of residency trade offenders be increased.
