No Coronavirus Cases In Kuwait
Spokesman of the Health Ministry Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad has affirmed the transparency of the ministry in announcing coronavirus cases, if any, while stressing the need for the public to obtain accurate information only from reliable sources in the ministry, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Sanad made the statement after the spread of photos and videos on the alleged evacuation training as a way of dealing with epidemics. In his statement which became a trending topic on Twitter, Al- Sanad clarified the photos and videos indicating the alleged discovery of coronavirus at Jahra Hospital are baseless. He said the images shown are that of a training conducted earlier at the hospital as part of the ministry’s efforts to determine the hospital’s level of readiness in dealing with the virus. He asserted Kuwait has so far not recorded a case of coronavirus infection.
Legal experts have warned social media users against spreading fake news about the novel coronavirus. Rumour-mongers convicted of posting fake news, claiming infections found in Kuwait, could be jailed up to five years. The legal experts were responding to online rumours spreading fake news about the outbreak of the disease in Kuwait over the past two days. The rumour-mongers claimed that a number of patients have been diagnosed with the virus, alleging that they are being quarantined at hospitals
