New Preemptive Steps In Anticipation Of The Third Wave Of Coronavirus
Health officials revealed new proactive steps to confront a possible third wave of Coronavirus in the Country, Al Qabas reported.
The source explained to the daily that the Ministry of Health (MoH) has not received any notification from AstraZeneca until Tuesday noon about the existence of unexpected health risks for the vaccine.
Sources pointed out that by now Kuwait has received 200,000 doses of the AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine and about 80% of the quantity has been given to people. The Ministry of Health has not detected any unexpected side effects or blood clots in the recipients of the vaccine.
On the suspension of the use of the Oxford vaccine in some countries, the health official mentioned that the Ministry of Health is closely following developments and communicating with international bodies.
A meeting is scheduled between the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency on Thursday about the AstraZeneca vaccine, and the Ministry will follow up on the recommendations issued. The two organizations are considered important medical references in adopting anti-Corona vaccines.
The source also said that there are instructions not to import any vaccine before making sure of its effectiveness and safety, noting that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is effective and approved by the World Health Organization, and is a single-dose vaccine, and it will be provided in Kuwait, after completing the required procedures.
