Need To Heed Recommendations Of Parliamentary Panel, Says Premier
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah has stressed the need to heed the recommendations of the parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee.
His Highness the Prime Minister made the statement after attending the meeting of the committee recently. The ministers of Justice, Education, Commerce, Oil, Public Works and Housing Affairs were also present at the meeting; during which they discussed important points in the final accounts for fiscal 2017/2018.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Minister of Justice and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Dr Fahad Al-Afasi affirmed the meeting was fruitful. He disclosed that in accordance with the recommendation of the committee, a governmental commission will be formed to look into the issues raised by the committee and submit its report directly to the Cabinet. On the other hand, Committee Chairman MP Adnaan Abdulsamad revealed the committee flagged several inconsistencies in the final accounts which necessitate the attention of HH the Prime Minister. He reiterated that the meeting was fruitful as the government welcomed the committee’s recommendations regarding the final accounts, indicating the government was given enough time to submit its own recommendations.
He asserted the Assembly is keen on highlighting erroneous practices in the government to be addressed by the concerned ministers. He pointed out the government took the initiative to meet the State Audit Bureau (SAB) – an indication of the executive authority’s willingness to correct errors in the budget.
