Moi Officer, Kuwaiti Involved In A Human Trafficking Jailed, Fined
The Criminal Court sentenced an officer from the Ministry of Interior to three-year imprisonment, and the Kuwaiti owner of a company to three-year imprisonment and fined him KD 5,000, and acquitted five Egyptians. They are all involved in a human trafficking case.
According to the case file, the Public Prosecution accused the officer of threatening expatriate workers and abusing his authority on others when he tried to disperse the workers who had conducted a sit-in to demand their sponsor to fulfill their labor rights.
The owner of the company was also accused of bringing in workers through deception after pledging to provide them with housing, salaries and work contracts, but failing to abide by the contract.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education terminated three non-Kuwaiti female Music Education teachers for participating in private parties in exchange for cash and outside the scope of their work without obtaining permission from the ministry, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources said these three teachers, who worked in Ahmadi Educational District schools for years, violated the rules and regulations. Although they were warned, referred for investigation and a penalty decision was issued against them earlier, they committed violations once again, sources disclosed.
Sources added First Technical Instructor for Music Education in Ahmadi Educational District Muhammad Al-Ajmi referred the three teachers to the Legal Affairs Department , but they denied the accusation despite the presence of evidence such as video clips.
