Moh Extends Tender For Providing Health Insurance To Retired Kuwaitis

18 July 2021 Health Insurance

The Ministry of Health has extended the tender for providing health insurance to retired citizens (Afiya), which is being implemented by Gulf Insurance Company for a period of six months starting from July 16 until the awarding of the new tender (Afiya 3), reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources affirmed that efforts have been exerted to extend the period to one year as the six-month period increases the insurance risks for the company, especially since it raises the cost of providing health insurance to more than 10 percent of the Kuwaiti society ā€” more than 137,000 retirees. Sources added the claims owed to the insurance company reached KD125 million and KD25 million of which has been pending since the Afiya 1 contract.
