Moh Does Not Recognize Vaccines Taken Outside Kuwait
The crisis of Kuwaiti students who have received the vaccine outside the country has been exacerbated by the Ministry of Health’s refusal to approve their vaccinations, prompting hundreds of students and doctors immunized outside the country to put media pressure on the Ministry of Health by activating electronic pages for those who have received their vaccination abroad. Social media Twitter is abuzz with demands for the approval of vaccinations that the people have received outside the country and link them to the ‘immunity’ application so that they too can avail of the benefits granted to those who have been vaccinated inside the country.
On Twitter the students have denounced the treatment meted out to them. They say they have received the two doses of ‘Pfizer’ and ‘Moderna’ vaccines, which have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health. The statement on Twitter read, “We are a group of students studying in the United States. We have received two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, and upon our return to Kuwait we spent seven days in home quarantine, although the Cabinet decisions stipulate that anyone who has received two doses and passed two weeks of vaccination would be exempted from quarantine. The text of the decision did not mention if the vaccination was taken inside or outside Kuwait.
The statement added that the vaccinations approved in the State of Kuwait according to the newspapers and the letter issued by the Ministry of Health are (Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford and Johnson & Johnson), and although “we received the approved vaccinations, as soon as we arrived at the Kuwait International Airport, we were subjected to home quarantine for seven days. “When we went to the IT center at the Mishref Vaccination Center after the quarantine period we were shocked to learn “We visited the IT center in the exhibition grounds after the quarantine was over to document vaccination, and when we went there, we were shocked to learn the ministry does not recognize vaccinations taken outside the country, and now there is no way to link vaccination with the civil number or passport, and there are no capabilities at the present time for that.” The question these students ask is: “Is this the equality and justice we talk about? All the vaccinations that are mentioned above are approved by the FDA and the State of Kuwait as well. So where is the problem! Why are those who are vaccinated with approved vaccinations outside Kuwait treated as those who are not? What is the solution then?
