Moh Activated Emergency Plan At All Government Hospitals
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has activated the emergency plan at all government hospitals and medical departments due to the current weather conditions in the country, said the ministry’s spokesman on Monday evening. Officials, engineers, doctors and technicians of emergency at the ministry are present at the sites of work and making their best to deal with the current situation, Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA.
Regarding the accumulated waters swamping some facilities belonging to the ministry, Al-Sanad said the relevant bodies have dealt with these waters at once, in line with the technical measures, he noted. He reassured both expats and citizens that the ministry’s apparatuses and officials are following up the incidents around the clock, in line with the emergency plan activated in accordance with the developments.
Meanwhile, head of medical emergency department Munther Al-Jalahma told KUNA in a statement that the ministry received 86 complaints from 4:00 pm (local time) to 8:00 pm, noting all these cases were treated. He stressed that emergency departments at hospitals are very ready to receive patients, indicating that the ministry is communicating with the Interior Ministry, the General Department of Civil Defense and the Ministry of Transportation to remove any obstacles. Al-Jalahma urged both expats and citizens to call at 112 in case of emergency. Also, Director of Al-Jahra Hospital Dr Ali Al-Mutairi said the competent authorities were able to control the problem resulting from the heavy rains on Monday evening.
“The failure in the drainage system resulted in reversing the direction of rainwater torrent which affected the corridor of the casualty ward of the hospital,” he told KUNA tonight. “The problem was timely controlled without causing any damage or hampering the medical service,” Dr Al- Mutairi affirmed. The administration of the hospital, acting on the instructions of Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basel Al- Sabah, has activated the emergency plan since yesterday amid forecasts of bad weather, he added.
