15 February 2024 Kuwait

The management of the technical staff of the Advisory Committee for Supervising Commodities and determining their prices at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has secured pledges from date shops and mills to maintain the prices of 11 essential food commodities before and after the month of Ramadan. During an inspection tour conducted by the price monitoring team for the month of Ramadan in the Shuwaikh area, pledges were obtained from workers in date shops and mills to uphold the prices of various items, including dates, coffee, cardamom, and saffron. This initiative aims to ensure price stability and affordability for consumers during the upcoming holy month.

The monitoring team, established by Administrative Resolution No. (108) of 2024, is tasked with overseeing and regulating the prices of food commodities in central markets, cooperative societies, and other food outlets. The team’s two-month work period, from January 29 to March 29, involves conducting inspection tours of various establishments to enforce price regulations and prevent unjustified price hikes. Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Technical Staff Department of the Advisory Committee for Supervising Commodities and Determining Their Prices at the Ministry of Commerce, emphasized that these efforts are in line with the directives of Minister of Commerce Abdullah Al-Joaan and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce.
