Ministry Of Interior Promote Cybercrime Law On January 12
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is set to launch a wide-scale media campaign on January 12th to promote the cybercrime law, a senior security official said yesterday. The MoI’s media campaign is mainly intended to make the largest number of society categories familiar with the contents of the law, General Director of the MoI’s Public Relations and Security Media Department Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash said in a press statement.
Under the law, anyone who gets illegal access to computers, information systems or networks shall be jailed for up to six months and fined KD 500-2,000, or be punished by one of these penalties only, he elaborated.
In case this is related to personal data or information, the violator will be punished by up to three years in prison and fined KD 3,000-10,000, or by one of both penalties only, he pointed out. If anyone forges, damages or destroys an electronic system or website, he or she shall face a three-year imprisonment and KD-3,000-10,000 fine, or by one of these penalties only, the security official added.
