Minister Noura Al-Mashaan Oversees Kuwait's Post-Rain Response
As emergency teams from the Ministry of Works tackle water accumulation in specific areas following rainfall, sources within the ministry revealed to Al-Rai newspaper that Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, will convene with ministry officials in the operations room immediately after the Cabinet meeting concludes to monitor the weather situation.
Efforts are underway to address light rainwater accumulations at various locations, including the police station roundabout in Jahra, sections of Muhammad bin Al-Qasim Street and Canada Dry Street in Shuwaikh, and Schools Street in the Farwaniya area. Water pumps are being utilized for effective drainage.
Highway lanes remain passable, with ministry officials stationed in the operations room to oversee the rain situation and coordinate emergency teams on the ground.
Engineer Ahmed Al-Saleh, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works, emphasized that the country is experiencing moderate-intensity rainfall, expected to intensify. Emergency teams, alongside the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, are conducting round-the-clock patrols and inspections to prevent rainwater accumulation.
Al-Saleh urged caution among citizens, residents, and drivers, advising proper disposal of construction and tree pruning waste to prevent drainage holes from being obstructed. He emphasized the importance of obtaining information from official sources and disregarding rumors.
In the event of heavy rainfall, the ministry will collaborate with relevant authorities under the civil defense framework. Al-Saleh recommended adherence to instructions from the General Traffic Department and prompt reporting of any concerns via hotline No. 150, the ministry’s electronic application, or its social media platforms.
