Minister Details Regulations For Women To Join Military

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali has introduced six new regulations for Kuwaiti women to join the military service, keeping in line with rules and regulations of the Fatwa Authority in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs regarding women joining the military.

The decision issued by the Defense Minister, a copy of which has been received by Al-Qabas, shows the six regulations include:
1 – The consent of the guardian or the husband
2 – Commitment to wear the veil while on duty
3 – Work in medical and nursing specialties, technical fields, and support services
4 – Not to participate in field and tactical military exercises
5 – Not carrying a service weapon
6 – Hiring to depend on available vacancies

The decision of the Minister of Defense stipulates that the Chief of the General Staff of the Army would issue the necessary orders to implement the content of the decision and all competent authorities should work to implement it, each in its own right.
