Mew Planning To Achieve Water Security, Rationalize Consumption
The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is developing plans to achieve water security in the country, including bilateral or collective water connection measures with the countries of the region.
Commenting on the participation of the Minister of Electricity and Water in the Fifth Arab Water Forum, which began on Tuesday in Dubai, sources told Al-Anba that the ministry’s current focus is on developing policies and strategies to make Kuwait safe in terms of its water needs to serve Kuwait’s 2035 vision.
The sources pointed out among the solutions and strategies being studied is how to reduce the daily consumption rate, saying if the same rate of consumption continues until 2030, the country’s water needs will increase by 30%.
The sources indicated as part of water management the ministry has urged citizens to save water and stop wastage and has started to activate a stimulus program to rationalize supply and reduce consumption by 20%.
