‘metro’ On Track For Cancellation

27 January 2022 Kuwait

The Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART) said “the decision to cancel the metro project has yet to be taken officially, but all results of the economic feasibility have been submitted to PART for Partnership Projects Authority (PPA)which confirms that the project is not economically feasible for at least the time being.

Well-informed sources told Al-Rai “it is assumed that recent studies for the feasibility of the project, contrary to previous studies submitted to the Authority for Partnership Projects, are carried out to ascertain the extent to which Kuwait needs to implement this project at the present time or postpone its implementation.”

Meanwhile, the sources added, “The project remained suspended in the PPA since 2015, until a decision was issued to assign PART to research and study its implementation.”

The sources concluded by saying: “There may be projects whose implementation is currently a priority, compared to the metro project,” and expects PART to issue its decision on the project soon, amid expectations that it would be canceled.
