Mandatory Tests For New Expats Coming To Kuwait In 20 Professions
An official source at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) told Al-Qabas daily that the PAM has begun listing the top professions for which expatriate workers are hired so that a smart methodology can be developed to test them in their countries in collaboration with Kuwaiti embassies abroad. A source explained, "This step is intended to implement a recruitment mechanism based on testing new expatriates. Tests will be conducted in the countries where workers are sent. In both practical and theoretical parts, the tests will be for the targeted professions. Kuwait will conduct the practical section and the countries of recruitment will conduct the theoretical section.
According to the source, the first phase will target about 20 professions. Additionally, the Kuwait Society of Engineers has prepared a center to conduct professional tests for 71 different professions to support engineers.
Following the approval of the plan by the competent government agencies, the society announced its readiness to operate the center. It is expected that the first phase of the project will target new work permits, and then the experience will be extended to those renewing permits in professions that will be counted. According to statistics published by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), there are 21,387 technicians and assistant specialists in natural sciences and engineering. In the upcoming theoretical and practical tests, these jobs will be targeted.
