Lentils Are For A Month, Chicken Stock Is For 15 Days
From the data presented to the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, it can be seen that the strategic stock of the society's needs of basic commodities has declined since the same period last year. According to a local Arabic newspaper, frozen chicken is at the top of the list of food commodities under pressure after the quantity of their supply declined due to geopolitical developments triggered by the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to the sources, the frozen chicken reserve will provide food for the entire Kuwaiti population for about 15 days, and for Kuwaiti ration card holders for about a month. The sources emphasized that the strategic lentil stock will provide food for the general population for about one month, and for ration card holders for about 60 days.
Officials at the Ministry are watching the withdrawals of infant formula on the market, but the control eye has been more open to the availability of barley.
According to the sources, Kuwait has an excess of 30 percent over daily domestic consumption of eggs equivalent to 130 percent of that amount.
In the latest developments of the ministerial committee tasked with strengthening the food security system, it is reported that there is consensus on focusing on five axes - the availability of commodities, their accessibility, their safety, their health quality and their stability.
