04 November 2022 Crime News

Al-Qabas daily reports that the Manpower Authority and Ministry of Health seized a huge drug store in one of the cooperative societies in Farwaniya Governorate last Sunday, the latest in a string of violations of medical clinics, drug stores and fictitious doctors. With the participation of the Ministry of Health, a Lebanese expat was arrested on Saturday after impersonating a doctor and claiming to "cure all pain." An official source confirmed to Al-Qabas that the campaigns were led by "manpower", under the direct supervision of its general manager. The goal of Mubarak Al-Azmi's work, in collaboration with the Department of Drug Inspection of the Ministry of Health and Commerce and the Consumer Protection Association, is to preserve consumers and materials, as well as control the labor market and violations committed by business owners and marginal workers.

According to our source, the tripartite committee was informed by a citizen that a drug store was on the roof of one of the cooperative societies in the Farwaniya governorate that was not built for storage and didn't obtain a license, and that it was built as air-conditioned rooms only and was subcontracted with the management of the society and not under Ministry of Affairs oversight.

According to the committee's website, expired drugs are prohibited from being circulated except with medical prescriptions and may only be used in hospitals and others in violation, as well as drugs that are not permitted to be circulated. According to the source, the "Commerce Ministry" closed the store, while the Health Ministry conducted its inspection and transferred the case to the legal department for further action. The source revealed that the Ministry of Social Affairs was informed to open an investigation into how the roof of the building was converted into a warehouse. Did shareholders receive the leasing money? Is there an irregularity in this aspect financially?

According to Mishaal Al-Manea, the Consumer Protection Association must intensify its efforts to investigate violations and violations in the field of poor medication storage and the work of some pharmacies, as well as the sale of consumables. In addition, Al-Manea said that what is monitored by inspection teams every day, whether in the medical field or expired consumables, should be met with more deterrent measures, especially since the consumer is the first and only victim. Regarding the seized drug store, he said: What happened is a crime whose parties must be referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures, especially that the observed infringements are huge.
