26 May 2024 Kuwait

In a development reported by Al-Anbaa newspaper, the Public Authority for Manpower is currently engaged in a project aimed at revising the decision concerning the proportion of national workers in non-governmental agencies. This initiative seeks to address employment dynamics within the private sector and bolster opportunities for Kuwaiti citizens seeking employment outside the government sector.

Sources familiar with the matter elucidated that the proposed amendments to the decision are geared towards incentivizing companies to adhere to prescribed proportions of national workers in their workforce. By doing so, the aim is to foster greater participation of Kuwaiti nationals in the private sector job market while alleviating strain on the government sector.

Moreover, the amendments are designed to actively encourage Kuwaiti youth to explore career opportunities in the private sector, thereby diversifying employment avenues and contributing to economic growth.

The sources emphasized the ongoing commitment of the authority to facilitate the disbursement of social allowances and children's allowances, subject to compliance with specified conditions for supporting national labor. These conditions encompass requirements such as obtaining licenses for micro-activities or specialized activities and registration with insurance under relevant chapters pertaining to employers and employment.
