A tragic fire at a company labor camp in Mangaf has claimed over 45 lives, with the majority of the deceased being Indian nationals. Several individuals were injured, some critically, and have been taken to nearby hospitals for necessary medical treatment. The Ministry of Health reassured that medical teams are providing the best possible care to those injured in the fire.
The incident occurred around 4:00 am on Wednesday morning, suspected to have originated from a gas cylinder stored in the watchman's room. Nearly 160 workers, all employees of the same company, were residing in the camp at the time of the fire.
Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah visited the site and ordered the apprehension of the building owner, the janitor, and the owner of the company responsible for the workers. This action is pending the completion of the criminal evidence personnel's examination of the scene.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, also visited the site, assuring full assistance with official formalities and support for those hospitalized.
Sheikh Fahad has instructed the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Manpower to take immediate action to address similar violations. This includes preventing overcrowding in residential buildings and ensuring all safety requirements are in place to prevent future incidents.
