Kuwait University Prohibited Sale Of Certain Products In The Cafeterias And Grocery Shops Within Campuses

Director of Catering Department at Kuwait University Anwar Al-Rughaib says the department has prohibited the sale of certain products in the cafeterias and grocery shops within the campuses, and prevented the use of certain materials for ensuring the safety of students, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Rughaib revealed that the products that are not allowed to be sold in these cafeterias and grocery shops include energy drinks and cigarettes. He affirmed that the department strictly complies with its role in terms of supervising and monitoring the sale of foods and drinks in the various campuses of the university, assuring that the department will not hesitate taking necessary legal action concerning any violations and will implement relevant penalties.

Regarding the monitoring aspect of the department’s responsibilities, Al-Rughaib explained that some conditions have been set in place concerning food items. There are strict regulations that companies must comply with, especially those involving violations.

Fines will be imposed on the companies in line with the signed agreements with the aim of preventing violations, as a measure of protecting the students and the image of the university. He stressed that the department carries out monitoring activities at the warehouses also to ensure the validity of food items, and the method of preparation and presentation.

Al-Rughaib highlighted the keenness of the department concerning the hygiene of all workers, and the food they offer to students and staff, affirming that food and nutrition professionals have been employed to carry out the monitoring and inspection of those companies in all campuses.
