Kuwait To Witness Equinox On Thursday

Equinox, the day where the durations of light and darkness are equal, is expected to occur in Kuwait on Thursday, said Kuwaiti astronomer and historian Adel Al-Sadoun. Speaking to KUNA, Al-Sadoun said that large swathes of the globe, including Kuwait, witness equinox on 16 March of each year, where sunrise was expected at 05:57 am, while sunset follows 12 hours later.

On the astronomical phenomenon, he said that it typically happens on 21 March, a process triggered when the plane of the earth's equator passes through the center of the sun.

Moreover, he noted that equinox occurs in the northern hemisphere before March 21st, while it falls after 21 March in the southern hemisphere. The Kuwaiti astronomer also foreboded that summer solstice, when the planet's rotational axis is most inclined towards the star that it orbits, is expected to set in on 22 June
