Kuwait To Install 800,000 Smart Power Metres

Kuwait has unveiled a massive plan to install hi-tech digital power meters, in replacement of the old ones.

Bids will invite early next year (2018) to buy 800,000 smart power readers, said Electricity and Water Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for customers’ affairs Dr. Misha’a Al-Otaibi.

In a statement to Alqabas newspaper, he said that the digital power meters have a technical feature to adapt to the Kuwaiti environment.

He said that a number of jobs would be scrapped once the smart equipment are installed, including employees in charge of reading the meters as data would be transferred to the ministry digitally.
