Kuwait Suffers From Shortage Of Warehouses

14 November 2021 Kuwait

The country suffers from a shortage of warehousing stores, whether for foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, building materials, and even consumables, which made some to resort to private, investment and commercial housing areas and convert them as warehouses in violation of the rules and regulations in force.

The lack of storage spaces led to the rise in the prices of the existing stores, which automatically hurt consumers because the store owners tend to raise the prices of commodities to make up and/or compensate their losses.

In this regard, the Council of Ministers has intervened to limit the lack of sufficient storage sites, so it decided to assign the Kuwait Municipality to look into the issue and find storage sites and hand them over to the concerned authorities to eliminate the phenomenon of severe shortage of warehouses.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Public Authority for Industry, Abdul Karim Taqi, has called on the Municipality to allocate a site for food and drug storage for the benefit of the authority, based on the Cabinet’s mandate for the Municipality to take necessary measures and allocate the site with an area commensurate with the needs of the state
