Kuwait Pm Grilling Motion Is Postponed By Parliament

The National Assembly adopted a postponement motion requested by Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday to postpone an interpellation filed against him.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, asked the Prime Minister whether he wanted to proceed with the grilling motion or postpone it to a later date, to which the Prime Minister responded that he wanted to defer discussing the interpellation in accordance with article 100 of the Kuwaiti constitution and article 135 of the parliament bylaws.

Article 100 of the Kuwaiti Constitution empowers parliamentarians to request an interrogation of the prime minister and cabinet members over matters pertaining to their duties and responsibilities.

Whereas, according to article 135 of the assembly's bylaws, a grilled motion must be discussed at least eight days after it is submitted, and the designated minister can request a postponement of the discussion for up to two weeks. Kuna –
