Kuwait Issues Ban On Travel To Iraq Through Abdali
The Land Ports Department of the Ministry of the Interior has issued a directive to ban travel to Iraq through the Abdali border crossing upon instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports Al-Anba daily.
The ban includes Kuwaitis and Bedoun who hold passports under Article 17. The directive says the ban will continue until further notice and until the conditions in Iraq improve.
The directive added, this is done in the best interests and safety of the citizens and Bedoun. The source pointed out the movement through the Abdali border crossing is limited to the transportation of trucks and drivers, pointing out that all trucks coming from Iraq are subject to strict scrutiny through advanced technology to prohibit smuggling of forbidden substances.
Regarding the Gulf citizens who go to Iraq to visit the holy shrines, the source said instructions had been issued to this effect by the Ministry of Interior some time ago, according to which only the goods trucks would be allowed to enter and leave as well as those who come from Iraq and have valid residence permits.
