Kuwait Included In Most Developed Countries For Youth

Kuwait was included in the category of the most developed countries for youth, along with Singapore, Norway, Finland, Germany, South Korea, and Japan, Al Qabas reported.

The Director-General of the Public Authority for Youth, Dr. Mishaal Al-Shaheen Al-Rabei told the daily on Friday that these efforts are results continuous efforts that spanned over two years, as youth authority was assigned by the Honorable Council of Ministers in 2019 to implement the National Youth Policy in coordination with the Supreme Council for Planning and Development.

He added that several meetings and workshops have been held with the United Nations Representative for Youth, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, UNICEF, UNESCO, and the International Labor Organization to develop frameworks and executive programs to support youth and link them to the sustainable development goals.

He pointed out that these efforts resulted in the development of 6 projects that will be implemented with UN offices in the areas of improving performance indicators related to youth development, empowering young women in entrepreneurship, enhancing digital skills among young people, qualifying young women to engage in the labor market, providing children with life skills, and promoting mental health in children.

These projects were included under the umbrella of the National Youth Policy along with other existing development projects approved by the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Youth.

Al-Rubaie stressed that the authority is continuing its approach that supports and encourages young people because they are the main pillar of development and progress at all levels and that the authority with the support of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, would work hard to provide everything that would advance Youth work in the country and provide young people with the skills and tools needed.

Dr. Mishaal Al-Rabi` thanked the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr. Khaled Mahdi for his support and assistance, as well as the leaders and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their efforts in facilitating international participation, as well as the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and heads of UN offices residing in the State of Kuwait for their outspoken efforts in facilitating communication with the organization.
