22 April 2021 Kuwait

The Central Blood Bank announced an increasing need for platelets. The platelets are small cells in the blood that stop bleeding and are essential for millions of patients with cancer, chronic diseases, and accidents, Al Qabas reported.

The bank through its Twitter account shared specific requirements for donating platelets.

The donor should be aged between 17 to 70. They should have no blood or any of its derivatives transferred recently. Women donors must never have been pregnant.

In addition to not taking medicine, the donor must eat non-greasy snacks for at least 5 days before donation as it affects the platelet function.
