Application Of Dress Code On Varsity Campus Not Possible
In reaction to what was published by the Al-Qabas daily yesterday under the title, ‘Kuwait University Students: Put on decent clothes’, otherwise, Professor of Administrative Sciences Dr Hassan Abbas considered the application of the decent clothes within the university is not possible, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Although logical in general, he stressed the application of such decisions must not be made to prevent a mood and randomness in applying the idea to students. “The refusal to accept the dress by students of one of the disciplines at the university who are not committed will give rise to confusion,” said Abbas.
“The criteria that everyone sets the tone for the socalled ‘modest dress’ vary indicating that the dress must be subject to social customs, not a law because it is difficult to apply.” For his part, Professor of Sociology Dr Khalid Al- Shallal said obliging the students to wear a specific dress, and the development of compulsory laws and regulations are not feasible, and will not work with some students. He said, the need to pay attention to the regulations of the university is more important which is directly related to the educational process and not the dress which is subjected to individual taste.
