Kuwait Achieves Excellence In Safety, Security, And Conflict Resolution

Kuwait has made significant strides in the Global Peace Index, particularly in community safety and security, and in managing local and international conflicts, according to a government report from the National Observatory for Sustainable Development and Future Foresight.

Outlined in the Third Development Plan, Kuwait's achievements in the Global Peace Index were highlighted, with notable progress in various areas. The report, issued by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, put forth eight recommendations to further enhance peace in the country.

1. Media outlets are urged to promote social responsibility, particularly in the security sector, and collaborate with stakeholders to foster citizenship, loyalty, and social belonging.

2. Scientific research institutions are encouraged to conduct field studies on crime factors and propose effective methods for addressing crime in alignment with social responsibility principles.

3. Cultural development of citizens is emphasized to reduce crime rates through knowledge dissemination and the establishment of comprehensive social systems engaging youth in constructive activities.

4. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with security services in reporting and confronting crimes.

5. Collaboration with global civil society organizations is essential to halt violence, wars, and promote peace.

6. Comprehensive legislative amendments are proposed to criminalize weapon possession and increase penalties for self-assault crimes.

7. Strengthening foreign military relations is recommended to enhance international military cooperation and protect national sovereignty and security.

8. The fight against corruption is emphasized to create a safer society, supporting political stability.

According to the Global Peace Index report, Kuwait advanced by four places globally in 2023, maintaining its second place among Gulf and Arab countries. Notably, Kuwait saw improvements in the economic impact of violence and community safety and security.

Kuwait achieved significant progress, with a decrease of more than 25% in the economic impact of violence compared to 2022. Community safety and security also improved, along with enhancements in military capacity, reflecting the nation's commitment to peace and stability.
