Kuwait, China Discuss Investments On Kuwaiti Islands
Officials of Kuwait’s department for developing the Silk City and Boubyan island have held talks with Chinese officials who expressed readiness to cooperate for investing on the Kuwaiti islands. The meeting, held in China, grouped the Chief Executive Officer of the apparatus for developing the Silk City (in Al-Sabbiah) and Boubyan island, Faisal Al-Medlej, members of the board of trustees Badr Al-Hajri, Tareq Al-Sultan, Rapporteur Abdulwahab Al-Reshaid and Sheikha Al-Onoud Al-Sabah with the head of the Chinese committee for development and reforms and other officials.
State of Kuwait Ambassador to China, Samih Johar Hayat, said in a statement on Thursday that the Chinese officials expressed readiness for full cooperation to study feasibility of economic investments on the Kuwaiti islands. He indicated that this round of talks with the Chinese officials dealt with coordination for restoring “the silk road,” revealing that the strategic Kuwaiti-Chinese friendship relationship would elevate significantly soon, with a number of planned accords in key sectors – to be inked by governments of the two countries. Kuwait’s participation in China’s 2013 silk road initiative depicts His Highness the Amir vision to transform Kuwait into a hub at the financial, commercial and cultural levels, Ambassador Hayat said.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Elkhan Qahraman has affirmed that Kuwait is doing a great job through its non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council, reports Al Aljarida daily. He expressed the hope that Kuwait will help his country when the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is brought up soon at the Security Council.
Addressing reporters on the sidelines of an Iftar banquet held at Jumeirah Messila Hotel, the ambassador described the Kuwaiti-Azeri relations as advanced in all aspects. He praised Kuwait for displaying the Azerbaijan flag on Kuwait Towers on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day on May 28. He explained that he worked as an ambassador of his country in the United Arab Emirates for eight years where he experienced several Ramadan months there.
However, the Ramadan in Kuwait has a special beautiful flavor. After his Ramadan experience in Kuwait, he no longer wants to travel out during Ramadan due to the joy he experiences in visiting friends in diwaniyas and participating in Ghabqa dinners that are very distinguished in Kuwait during this month.
