Ku College Of Arts Opts Distance Learning To Accommodate All Students
The Dean of College of Arts at the Kuwait University, Dr. Abdullah Al-Hajri, said the college has embarked on “distance education” in the best interests of the students and professors so that it can accommodate a large number of students beyond its capacity.
He revealed at the same time, the establishment of an archeology department which will contribute to the excavation process in Kuwait, in addition to opening a doctoral program in the Arabic Language Department.
Al-Hajri told Al-Rai, “The College of Arts is one of the largest and oldest colleges at the Kuwait University, and during the last period we were able to accommodate large numbers of students. This year we have accepted approximately 2389 male and female students.”
Speaking about the decision of the college to opt for distance education, he said, “We make it clear that frankly at the College of Arts we want to return to traditional study, return to our lives as we were before the pandemic, meet our students and hold discussions person to person, and that education be synchronous and not electronic.
But in light of the data that we have in the college, and in light of the very large numbers, especially with the outcomes from high school during the past two years, the College of Arts accepted more than its absorptive capacity, which is nearly more than 5,000 students in the six departments of the college, while the spatial capacity of the college cannot take in so many.”
