Kotc Planning To Execute Comprehensive Upgrade Of Home Gas With Aim Of Ensuring Utmost Safety
Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC) is planning to execute a comprehensive upgrade of home gas cylinders with the aim of ensuring utmost safety, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.
They explained that KOTC intends to replace the gas cylinders in the branches of the company in Shuaiba and Umm Al-Aish areas. The project will focus on upgrading 264,600 cylinders of 12 kilograms weight, 10,000 cylinders of 25 kilograms weight and 500 cylinders of five kilograms weight in Shuaiba factory. In addition, 53,000 cylinders of 12 kilograms weight and 6,000 cylinders of 25 kilograms weight will be upgraded in the Umm Al-Aish factory.
The sources said the process will include testing the resistance of the cylinders from explosion by exposing it to fire, after which the cylinders will be repainted and the pressure will be measured before the cylinders are sealed.
;They revealed that the production capacity of Shuaiba factory is 13 million cylinders of 12 kilograms weight per year, while the production capacity of Umm Al-Aish factory is 15 million cylinders of 12 kilograms weight per year. The sources said the capacity of the two factories can cover the demand of the market until the year 2030, adding that they can contribute to increasing the strategic reserve of liquefied gas of Kuwait to more than 50 days.
