Kd 100 Mln Lost In Tuesday Rainstorm
Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Hussam Al-Roumi revealed that several roads and tunnels have been paralyzed due to accumulation of clay which resulted from the rainstorm that overwhelmed the country recently, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
During a visit to the Civil Defense’s Operations Room in the presence of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham, Al- Roumi declared that all flooded areas have been evacuated, and only traces of the flood remained.
He explained that the officials of Kuwait Municipality have been directed to deal with the traces of the flood including clay on the roads in order to ensure the roads are in order and the manholes are cleaned for accommodating the rain that is expected.
In the same vein, Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) clarified that the video clip that went viral on social media concerning Mangaf Bridge was about cracks in the asphalt which did not have any effect on the bridge construction.
Also, Chairperson of “Engineers without Borders” in Kuwait Zainab Qurashi declared that the estimated losses incurred by the association during the Tuesday flood was KD100 million. She said there is an urgent need for a solution to the flooding in order to save hundreds of millions of dinars for the government and the society.
