Indian Domestic Workers To Arrive In Kuwait Within 10 Days

10 March 2021 India

Head of the Federation of Domestic Workers Recruitment Agencies, Khaled Al-Dakhnan, revealed that the first new batches of Indian domestic workers who were recruited will arrive in Kuwait within 10 days, after services in offices were suspended for a year and a half, Al Rai daily reported.

Al-Dakhnan pointed out in a statement to the daily that the offices for a year and a half did not receive the appropriate volume of requests for domestic workers, and for offices to resume operations effectively, it will take time to deal with providing domestic workers to the local market, which may take about a year or more in light of the challenges they face against the spread of the Coronavirus. He added that aside from the suspension, there were no other obstacles faced by Indian domestic workers.

Regarding the 280 Filipino domestic workers, Al-Dakhnan confirmed that their evacuation from the country about a week ago is a positive indicator in the process of resolving the outstanding issues in the file of employment of Filipino domestic workers.

He stated that the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has exerted great efforts to end the employment problems plaguing the Filipino workers, and their travel was organized in cooperation with the Philippine embassy in Kuwait.

At present, Al-Dakhnan said, there are visas available for Filipino domestic workers, but their work contracts at their embassy in Kuwait are suspended, and within a few days after the progress is made, those domestic workers under contracts will be permitted to return to work again, which will facilitate the recruitment process of additional domestic workers from the Philippines.
