India: National Mourning In Appreciation Of The Late Prince .. Tomorrow

The Indian government announced national mourning, tomorrow, Sunday, across the country, in appreciation of the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad.

The national mourning will be revived tomorrow, for a period of one day, according to the Indian Ministry of Interior statement.

In the statement, the ministry said that as part of the mourning, celebrations and entertainment on that day will be canceled.

She added in a tweet: "A day of mourning on October 4, 2020, in recognition of the departure of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait."

And all Indians in Kuwait may join the 1.3 billion Indians in India, paying homage to the departed spirit by observing a two-minute silence at 11am on October 4.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind had described the late prince as a "great statesman", a "humanitarian leader" and a "close friend of India."

In turn, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sadness at the death of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Modi said in a tweet on his official account on the Twitter site for social networking that his country "lost a close friend with the death of the late Emir of Kuwait."

He added that Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad played a pioneering role in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Kuwait, stressing that he had always been particularly interested in the Indian community in Kuwait.
