Increase Fees For Aircraft Transit, Parking And License Issuance

Deputy Director General for Airport Affairs and Director of Engineering Department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Saleh Al-Fadaghi has confirmed the increase in fees for aviation services, including transit, parking and license issuance; indicating the Council of Ministers has approved the new fees, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Fadaghi told the daily that the decision covers aviation services and the percentage of increase varies depending on the services provided as some increased by 100 percent and others by 20 percent.

He asserted that despite the increase, fees for these services remain the cheapest compared to neighboring airports. He disclosed the South Korean global operator, in cooperation with the DGCA, implemented a new principle for the first time to improve services provided by companies operating the T4 building and public institutions operating at Kuwait International Airport.

He added the directorate studied a number of proposals to increase annual revenues, while affirming that a new project will be implemented soon to facilitate the movement of passengers – face print machines.

He explained that an automated device will be used to verify the picture in the passport of a passenger without the need to show the travel document to the concerned employee. He added the DGCA is currently looking into the possibility of installing face print machines in first class halls at the airport, disclosing the issue is being discussed with the Ministry of Interior in order to determine the technical requirements.

“T4 and Al-Jazeera terminals reduced the fl ow of passengers at the main terminal by 50 percent,” he said. He also revealed that revenues from August 2018 to August 2019 reached KD12.318 million including revenues from investment sites (KD3.418) and services (KD8.910 million). He went on to say that the number of flights this year has so far reached 25,454 flights while the number of passengers reached 3.733 million and the number of bags reached 4.48 million.
