Since the start of the effort to track environmental infractions in the desert areas, the Environment Public Authority has documented 111 environmental violations in just 11 days.

107 citations for violations of Article 41 of the Environmental Law, which forbids "grazing cattle or exploiting land in irrigated agriculture or any other activity that harms the quantity or quality of vegetation cover that may result in desertification or the deterioration of the desert environment," were issued between August 14 and August 25, according to the authority. According to a local Arabic daily, it is also forbidden to destroy crops, plants, and trees, take flowers from public spaces like squares and streets, or uproot trees and wild plants from any location. The minimum penalty for violating Article 41 of the environmental law is 250 dinars. It also kept an eye out for other environmental offences committed during the campaigns, such the construction of camps or the disposal of rubbish elsewhere.
