Imams' Salaries Have Been Stopped

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, some imams and muezzins are not receiving their salaries. The decision was taken on the directives of Abdulaziz Al-Majed, Minister of Justice, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and Minister of State for Promoting Integrity Affairs to resolve the issue of not paying salaries to non-Kuwaiti imams and muezzins, reports Al-Jarida daily. However, the Awqaf Ministry affirmed it is making all efforts to solve this issue and preserve the rights of its employees in coordination with the Financial Controllers Authority.
