Security leaders have been instructed to develop a comprehensive plan to arrest violators of residence and labor laws by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas.
Security sources told Al-Rai there are around 150,000 illegal residents living in the country, most of whom reside in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Khaitan, Al-Farwaniya, Mahboula, Amghara, and other remote areas.
According to sources, the Ministry of Interior is firm in pursuing and arresting violators. The daily quoted security sources saying if anyone — citizens or companies – employs them in violation of the law appropriate legal measures will be taken against the persons responsible.
The Ministry of Interior is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish a mechanism with embassies of some countries that have large numbers of violators to speed up deportation procedures, according to sources in the same context. In order to leave as quickly as possible without waiting weeks or months, some workers need travel documents as soon as possible.
