Huge Budget To Operate The New Airport For 10 Years

The Supreme Committee for the New Kuwait Airport, which includes several related parties, discussed in its last meeting the allocation of a huge budget for the operation of the new airport after its completion, for a period of ten years, indicating that “according to what is planned, it is expected that the implementation of the three airport packages will be completed in early 2025,” an official at the Ministry of Public Works revealed to Al-Rai daily.

The sources, who refused to reveal the size of the budget that had been allocated, explained the procedures that will be followed to allocate the agreed amount, in coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Works represented in the major projects sector.

The sources stated that the discussion revolved around the issue of the operating period that was set to ten years, with the aim of qualifying national professionals to manage and operate the new airport after the end of the contract with the contracted operator, who will undertake the operation during the first ten years.

On the other hand, the Central Agency for Public Tenders has extended the closing date for the construction, completion, furnishing and maintenance of Package No. 3 of the tender for aircraft equipment, corridors and service buildings, for the new passenger building at the international airport, until the end of this month.
