Hearings On Candidate Eligibility Begin By The Disqualification Committee
The committee responsible for disqualifying candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria for candidacy in the 2024 National Assembly elections has commenced its meetings. It is currently reviewing the files of individuals accused in cases where the candidacy law does not apply.
The source explained that the committee, chaired by Attorney General Counselor Badr Al-Massad and comprising members of the Ministry of Interior, is examining the candidates’ files. It will announce the names of disqualified candidates once the review of all names is completed after the closure of the nomination period, in accordance with the legally prescribed dates.
The source indicated that delisted individuals have the right to appeal before the judiciary, specifically the urgent circuits, through three levels of litigation. These appeals will promptly determine whether to uphold or cancel the decisions made by the delisting committee.
