France Is Considering Re-imposing A Curfew After Residents Ignore The Lockdown

France is considering re-imposing a night-time curfew in Paris and the Ile-de-France region surrounding the capital, amid the government’s frustration that many are ignoring the new lockdown measures in light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

France slowed the outbreak of the epidemic significantly in the spring by applying some of the most stringent general isolation measures in Europe, but ten months after the outbreak of the disease and with the approaching winter, many do not want to endure a new isolation period. “It is unlikely that those who respect the rules will see other people who do not care about them,” government spokesman Gabriel Atal told BFM television. “There is behavior that is meant to be.” We must take all required steps to curb the spread of the pandemic. ” Atal presented the new curfew as a de facto situation, but Prime Minister Jean Castex’s office said the final decision had not yet been made. A government source said that the matter would be discussed at a meeting between President Emmanuel Macron and government ministers on Wednesday. French Health Minister Olivier Ferrand told RTL radio that Covid-19 affects one in Paris every 30 seconds, and hospitals receive a case of this disease every 15 minutes for a resident of the capital. France recorded a record number of new cases of Covid-19, which reached 52,518 on Monday. Four seriously ill patients will be airlifted from Corsica to Van in western France to relieve pressure on intensive care units on the island. France imposed a curfew on two-thirds of its 67 million people in the second half of October, but the authorities lifted the ban when the president ordered the imposition of new general isolation measures, albeit less stringent than the previous ones, and began work on October 30th.
