Five MPs Demand A Human Rights Inquiry Into Alleged Torture Of Citizen

It is noteworthy that five parliamentary representatives have submitted a formal request urging the Human Rights and Defense Committee to look into an alleged incident of torture.

Dr. Hassan Johar, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Kandari, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqabi, and Abdullah Al-Mudhaf have all signed the request requesting the committee's intervention. The statement emphasizes that the incident must be thoroughly investigated, its perpetrators identified, and the freedom and dignity of individuals protected.

The Kuwaiti representatives highlighted the fundamental rights of citizens by quoting Article 31 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, which states that, except under law, no one may be arrested, imprisoned, searched, restricted from living in the country, or restricted from moving or relocating. Torture and degrading treatment are prohibited."

Representatives have set a deadline for the committee, urging them to submit a report to the parliamentary council within two weeks of their assignment. According to constitutional principles, this initiative upholds human rights and ensures accountability for any violations.
