Expansion Of The Power Grid By 900 Megawatts Will Cost 257 Million Dinars
An approval has been granted by the Central Agency for Public Tenders for the procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of combined cycle gas turbine units.
These units aim to augment the electrical energy capacity at the Subbiya Electric Power Station by an impressive 900 megawatts in its fourth phase, reports Al-Jarida daily.
A contract worth 257.558 million dinars was awarded to the winning company through a competitive tender process. The Ministry of Electricity and Water had initially requested a review of the contract value earlier this year, a request which the agency subsequently accepted. The final contract was then granted to the winning company at the initially estimated amount.
MW gas emphasized its commitment to proposing projects that would increase energy and water production in alignment with the country's urbanization.
Moreover, the Ministry obtained approval from the Agency to issue a tender for the provision, installation, and operation of photovoltaic cells at southern electric power stations.
This initiative is part of a broader series of renewable energy projects utilizing photovoltaic panels, with a target of generating 3 megawatts per hour. This energy will power the locations where the panels are installed, substituting traditional fossil fuel-generated electricity and thus saving costs.
Through this contract, the Ministry intends to harness renewable energy sources to power employee parking lots and buildings around the clock, using panels installed on the parking canopy.
