Ethiopia, Dubai's New Competition For Resident Transit
According to alqabas After the return of air traffic between Kuwait and the 34 banned countries has become unthinkable in the current period, due to the spread of the Corona virus, and the growing news of the possibility of a second wave of infections, the rush of residents wishing to return to Kuwait on transit flights has increased, to catch up with their jobs, their families and their lives.
With Dubai’s monopoly on “business transit residents”, as most of the returnees to the country were the first destination through a third country, Ethiopia, in turn, entered the circle of countries to which transit flights would start to be a new competition for “business transit”, especially after Dubai’s ticket prices rose to 700 dinars for a single passenger package.
And Hassan Al-Shami, the tour operator, says
To Al-Qabas: “Ethiopia is a good option for arrivals from African countries, as well as for Egyptians and the Maghreb countries,” pointing out that “it is not among the banned countries and does not require a visa, and hotel accommodation and reservations are cheap and available.”
According to Al-Shami, a trip has already arrived in Kuwait via Ethiopia, referring to “preparing for other trips, as the value of the entire program amounts to approximately 200 dinars, including air tickets, hotel accommodation and medical tests.”

After the return of air traffic between Kuwait and the 34 banned countries has become unthinkable in the current period due to the spread of the Corona virus, and with the growing news indicating the possibility of a second wave of infections, the rush of residents wishing to return on transit flights has increased, to catch up with their jobs, families and their lives.
Attention to Dubai, and the increasing turnout it witnessed, prompted Ethiopia to enter the circle of countries to which transit flights would depart to be a new competitor for “transit business”, especially after the prices rose to reach 700 dinars for a single passenger package.
good choice
On this, Hassan al-Shami, the tour operator, told Al-Qabas: “Ethiopia is a good option for arrivals from African countries, as well as for Egyptians and the Maghreb countries,” pointing out that it “is not among the prohibited countries, and does not require a visa, just as accommodation and hotel reservations are cheap. And available ».
Al-Shami shows that there is a trip that has already arrived in Kuwait via Ethiopia, referring to “preparing for other trips, as the value of the entire program amounts to approximately 200 dinars, including travel tickets, hotel accommodation and medical analyzes.”
Potential control
Transit air traffic to Kuwait has witnessed a significant increase in recent weeks, and Dubai represented the most popular destination, due to the ease of obtaining a tourist visa, residence for two weeks, and then returning to Kuwait, but it seems that the matter will not be so simple during the coming period, as news of a government move to control The number of arrivals is due to the increase in their numbers during the previous period, and the fear of the possibility of facing a second wave of the epidemic, despite the fact that arrivals undergo a “PCR” examination several times in their countries, at the transit station, and after coming to Kuwait as part of a random check.
The reasons for the price frenzy
During the past two weeks, a source mentioned that many flights were canceled and postponed without giving reasons, in addition to the operation of the plane at less than half its capacity, which ultimately led to an unprecedented increase in ticket prices, as the value of the ticket reached 700 dinars.
