Eng Al-manfouhi Sets Up A Committee To Oversee Cabinet Decisions

01 June 2022 Kuwait

Eng Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, Director-General of Kuwait Municipality, has made a resolution to form a committee to follow up on decisions issued by the Council of Ministers from time to time — from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.

The committee will be led by the Deputy Director-General for Urban and Structural Planning, according to a local Arabic newspaper. Al-Manfouhi listed the committee's responsibilities as following up on all requests and letters received by the Municipality from the Council of Ministers, preparing necessary responses as soon as possible, coordinating and following up with all authorities and departments inside and outside the Municipality, ensuring the prompt preparation of responses and following up on the implementation of decisions and recommendations issued by the Council of Ministers, while at the same time

Meanwhile, Eng Al-Manfouhi stated that the Municipality lacks the necessary expertise to draught a regulation for awarding temporary industrial and service facilities sites. In a letter to the Director-General of the Public Authority for Industry, Eng Al-Manfouhi said that, based on the Fatwa and Legislation Department's recommendations, the municipality is not competent to prepare a regulation for the allocation of temporary sites for industrial and service facilities, and that the industry authority is the authority in charge of preparing this regulation, seeking the opinion of the concerned authorities, and providing the fatwa with the opinion of these bodies, so that the draft regulation can be studied and reviewed in an appropriate legal formula.

Eng Al-Manfouhi, on the other hand, has called for the formation of a fact-finding committee into the fire that broke out in the Tent Market in the Rai area the day before yesterday.

"In light of the outbreak of a fire in the Tent Market in the Al-Rai area, please form a neutral fact-finding committee to discuss the causes of the fire, determine the measures taken by the concerned authorities towards this incident, and determine the names of those responsible and hold the negligent people accountable, whether from within or outside the Mujahideen," Al-Manfouhi wrote in a letter to the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs.

Al-Manfouhi emphasized the importance of identifying the perpetrator and devising innovative ways to prevent and restrict future fires in order to protect citizens, residents, and their property.
