Encyclopedia Of All Grillings Submitted By Mps Published
The National Assembly’s Department of Sessions Affairs recently published an encyclopedia of all interpellations submitted by MPs from the very first legislative term. The publication is one of the most important sources as it documents the Assembly’s supervisory role. It is a special reference for researchers and those interested in parliamentary affairs.
Assistant Secretary- General Adel Al-Loghani explained that due to numerous requests for information regarding parliamentary interpellations and various sources they had to dig through in order to provide such information, the Secretariat General decided to create a comprehensive publication which contains everything about interpellations from the beginning of Kuwait’s parliamentary journey.
On the other hand, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani disclosed that he had earlier prepared a request to grill Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh, but the government is now taking steps to address the issues he intended to tackle in the interpellation.
In a press conference, Al- Adsani affirmed the interpellation request is ready for submission today if need be. He said the first grilling point is the recent attack on the Islamic Religion – a red line that no political group or movement should ever cross.
The government asserted that it will hold those at fault accountable and correct the situation, alongside the issue of the State Audit Bureau (SAB) which should not be affiliated with the Service Committee in the Cabinet. He asked Al-Sabeeh to submit a report to the Assembly as soon as the necessary action is taken and issues are addressed.
Furthermore, MP Abdullah Al-Roumi alleged in a press conference that governmental positions on the proposals of MPs are inconsistent; indicating he submitted a number of queries on this issue to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Khaled Al-Saleh. After reviewing the parliamentary committees’ reports, the MP concluded that representatives of the government who attend committee meetings and sessions took a certain position which differs from the general policies and work plan which the government submitted to the Assembly.
Therefore, the MP wants to know the policies and procedures followed regarding the bills submitted by MPs and reasons behind differences in governmental positions on one bill.
