Egyptian Jailed For 3 Years For Forcible Kiss

A local newspaper reported that an Egyptian court sentenced a man to three years in prison for forcibly kissing a woman on the street.

On charges of drug abuse, the Giza Criminal Court also sentenced the defendant to an additional three years in prison and fined him 10,000 Egyptian pounds (Dh1,922).

In August last year, when the defendant blocked the woman's way, he pushed her to the ground, kissing and hugging her by force, and trying to strip her of her clothes, according to the complaint. The report said that when she resisted him, he physically assaulted her. She accused him of sexually assaulting her while walking on a public street. Following an examination of surveillance cameras in the area, police investigations confirmed the accusation. An arrest was made after the assailant was identified.
