Doctors Save 2-year-old Who Swallowed 8 Injection Needles

In northeastern Peru, doctors saved the life of a 2-year-old boy after he swallowed eight hypodermic needles.

Salasar said, "We found these metal pieces when we opened his stomach in the operating room, and we realized they were needles," reports Al-Rai daily.

Media outlets in Peru reported that the needles were among those used to vaccinate animals on a farm where the child’s mother worked.

The child, whose name has not been revealed, lives in the agricultural region of Taratubo, about 622 kilometers from the capital, Lima. “Maybe he swallowed it while he was playing there,” his mother said. According to media reports, the child's life is not in danger after surgery.
