Doctors Point Out First Wave Is Still Ongoing

09 November 2020 Coronavirus

In response to government sources stating that the country is reaching the middle of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, many doctors in the Ministry of Health spoke to Al-Qabas daily offering a correction to the statement as the first phase is still continuing.

In statements to Al-Qabas, these doctors suggested that the first wave of the epidemic is still persisting, and that the country has not entered the second wave yet. The head of the Covid-19 team at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al-Fadhli, stressed that the epidemic is under control, and highlighted the need for the public to adhere to the health regulations for dealing with the coronavirus, to ensure that a second wave of infections does not start.

Al-Fadhli pointed out that organizing the treatment of the infected, and the plan drawn up by the Ministry of Health contributed to the most appropriate way to deal with the repercussions of the coronavirus, especially with regard to organizing the entry of citizens to Jaber Hospital, and to the field hospital in Musharraf.

Noting it is difficult to determine the start of the second wave of the coronavirus, Al-Fadhli remarked that doctors are dealing with an emerging virus, but the public cannot be complacent in following health instructions.

In turn, a consultant at Al-Salam International Hospital, stated that entering the second coronavirus wave depends on some factors, which may not be visible now, such as taking additional swabs to find the number of people infected in extensive detail. The coronavirus was discovered not a year ago yet, and therefore the information about its waves is still under study and scientific research.

As for Dr. Reem Al-Asousi, pointed out that the continuation and length of the first wave was attributed to five factors, the first is the lack of commitment by individuals to the health measures, the second is the lack of deterrent penalties for violators, and the third is that the procedures are not properly implemented, such as area quarantine, and the fourth is the small number of swabs conducted, and finally the wrong timings to impose and reduce the procedures.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Jarallah warned that the country is still in the first wave, the coronavirus infection is still active, but the number of patients being treated is still stable.
